My PhD started in 2020. My research focused on bone fragility, sarcopenia and type 2 diabetes in the general elderly population, and their association with the gut microbiome, which is part of the FIDELIO-ITN (i.e, bone Fragility In Diabetes in Europe – towards a personaLised medIcine approach) research theme. Furthermore, my PhD also involved the investigation on the association of gut microbiome with musculoskeletal health and broad metabolic health in the adolescents (part of Generation R Study cohorts), thus towards exploring a life-course relationship. The main cohorts for which my PhD was based on are Rotterdam Study and Generation R Study. Besides, some external cohorts including Framingham Study, MrOS study and Lifelines-DEEP Study also used in my PhD thesis. Currently, I am finalizing my PhD thesis.
