Inauguration of EOS Edge System: A Leap Forward in Medical Research
On September 17th, 2024, the prestigious Erasmus Medical Center (Erasmus MC) in Rotterdam marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the new EOS Edge System. This state-of-the-art imaging technology is set to transform the landscape of medical research and clinical care. The event, which was attended by researchers, clinicians, and distinguished guests, kicked off with a welcome speech by Fernando Rivadeneira from Erasmus MC and Grégory Vanesse from EOS Imaging.
The program began with a presentation by Arfan Ikram from Erasmus MC, who introduced The Rotterdam Study, a long-term research initiative that has been at the forefront of epidemiological research. Ikram’s talk highlighted the study’s impact on health insights and its pivotal role in understanding aging and disease.
Following this, Fernando Rivadeneira shared how the new EOS Edge system will be integrated into The Rotterdam Study. He emphasized the potential of this innovative imaging technology to enhance data collection and improve precision in research outcomes, offering unprecedented capabilities for both clinical and epidemiological studies.
Robin Peeters, a leading expert in internal medicine, then presented on the importance of bridging clinical and epidemiological research. His discussion underscored how advanced systems like EOS Edge facilitate more accurate diagnoses and inform treatment strategies, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
Next, Fjorda Koromani gave an insightful overview of the Erasmus MC Skeletal Fragility (SINTER) study, a groundbreaking research initiative that explores bone health and its connection to frailty. The study is expected to benefit greatly from the EOS Edge system’s high-resolution imaging capabilities.
The event concluded with a live demonstration of the EOS Edge measurement system, showcasing its cutting-edge technology. Guests then had the opportunity to tour the new EOS Edge room in small groups, followed by drinks, where further discussions on the future of medical research took place.
The inauguration of the EOS Edge system signals a bright future for advanced imaging and research at Erasmus MC, paving the way for innovative breakthroughs in healthcare.
