I am a PhD candidate studying the genetic underpinnings of osteoporosis in perimenopausal women. I completed my BSc and MSc in Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University, where I specialized in Genetics and Genomics.
The overarching goal of my PhD project is to better understand the pathophysiology of accelerated perimenopausal bone loss, in order to contribute to the development of optimal lifestyle and pharmaceutical strategies to prevent bone loss during the menopausal transition.
I will be working with data from the Rotterdam Study and several other large cohorts to explore genetic pathways related to both bone loss and reproductive-related traits. I’m excited to combine my interest in genetics with large-scale population data and to contribute to research that directly supports women’s health.
